The Foyle School Library Scheme provides grants of between £2000 and £10,000 to UK state schools and special schools to improve literacy and reading attainment. The grants are awarded primarily for physical libraries or reading books with a focus on primary school provision.

Preference will be given to schools that can demonstrate a commitment to renewing and maintaining their library provision in the future and/or to schools looking to improve literacy standards following an Ofsted report. Local deprivation levels, current literacy levels and the impact of the pandemic on pupils’ learning will also be taken into account.

The Foyle Foundation will complete its grant gifting programme in 2025. The final deadline for applications to the Foyle School Library Scheme is 30th September 2024.

 Cost: Free.
