The Alliance of Radical Booksellers has announced the shortlist for the Little Rebels Award 2022.
Over the past ten years, the Little Rebels Award has celebrated fiction for children aged 0-12 that challenges stereotypes and promotes social equality. Titles in this year’s shortlist tackle prejudice in all its forms as well as exploring some of the issues that threaten our modern society.
The shortlist, which includes picture books, novels and a graphic novel, was chosen by a panel of five judges made up of authors, children’s book experts and educators.
Commenting on this year’s shortlist, award organiser Kerry Mason said: “As always this shortlist highlights how keenly attuned UK creators are to contemporary fears and anxieties while also demonstrating how even the most complex of social issues can be expertly distilled into a few pages for the very youngest readers…”
Congratulations to all the shortlisted authors and illustrators!
