My Twist on a Tale is a national writing competition open to young people aged 4 to 19. The theme for this year’s competition is Represent!

Young writers are encouraged to put the under-represented centre-page and to write about the people, issues and aspects of life that they feel are missing from literature today.

The tales can take any form – fiction, non-fiction, poetry or an audio or video recording – and can be created by individuals, classes or after-school groups. Entries must not exceed 1000 words, eight minutes in length or 32MB in file size and shorter creative narratives are welcome.

Regional winners will be selected for each key stage and will see their work published as part of an illustrated anthology and an audio collection.

Timetable:

  • Entries can be submitted from September 8th until the deadline on Friday 25th November 2022.
  • The winners will be contacted in January 2023.

Cost: Free
