The 2024 NATE Conference took place on 1st July at King’s College London.  The theme was A Celebration of Secondary English Teaching and Research. Details for the 2025 conference are yet to be confirmed.

Through a selection of keynote presentations, workshops and seminars, delegates had the opportunity to explore a range of key issues within English, including:

  • Using drama-based pedagogy to support the interpretation of prose and poetry.
  • How to engage young people to write with enthusiasm.
  • Understanding the struggles of dysfluent readers.
  • Using literary archives to enrich an inclusive English curriculum.

Keynote speakers included:

  • Dr Simon Gibbons, Director of Teacher Education at King’s College London
  • Martin Illingworth, Senior Lecturer in English Education at Sheffield Hallam University and Rhythmical Mike, spoken word artist, film-maker and podcaster.
  • Alison Wood and Kathy Roe from HFL Education.

Cost: £39/£49 for NATE members/non-members. Discounts for trainees and ECTs available.
