The Alligator’s Mouth Award is a national award that champions authors and illustrators of highly illustrated fiction for younger readers aged 6-8. Illustrated fiction for younger readers is often under-represented in other children’s book awards but it plays a vital role in helping to develop young readers as they move on from reading schemes.
The Award was set up by The Alligator’s Mouth Children’s Bookshop and the Bright Agency. It is judged by a panel of children’s experts that includes authors, reviewers and teachers.
