About The Colourful Bookshelf: The Colourful Bookshelf was set up in 2020 and is designed to provide a space where British BAME KidLit authors and illustrators can come together to support each other and promote their work to the wider public. It is currently administered by children’s author and storyteller Chitra Soundar.

  • The Colourful Bookshelf is a new initiative but already provides a shopfront for over 500 books by British BAME authors and illustrators.
  • Any profits from book sales will be used to promote the work of British KidLit authors and illustrators of colour.
