The Day is an online, whole-school news platform designed to connect current affairs to the curriculum and help all young people develop the real-world knowledge, critical thinking, and speaking and listening skills they need to become successful, engaged citizens of the modern world.

Designed specifically for schools, the platform can be used with young learners from 5  to 18 and offers a number of features to support teachers across all areas of the curriculum:

  • Two daily news stories on topics of significance available at five different reading levels. Each story is written around a central question to encourage debate and comes with glossaries to extend vocabulary, activities to help students develop their own point of view, links to age-appropriate further reading and a live poll.
  • A daily infographic plus weekly quizzes, videos and caption competitions to allow pupils to access information and engage with the news in a variety of ways.
  • A Weekly Themes Calendar with a year’s worth of assembly presentations linked to the World Citizenship Curriculum.
  • A news story translated by native speakers into French, German, Spanish, Arabic and Mandarin every week to support the MFL curriculum.
  • Weekly resources to connect set texts from the English syllabus with issues in the news today.
  • Access to The Day’s archive of over 5000 resources covering a wide range of topics and curriculum subjects for further research and self-directed study.

The Day is available on a subscription basis. Costs are dependent on the number of pupils and the number of reading levels required.
