The 58th UKLA International Conference will take place at the University of Exeter from 23rd – 25th June 2023. The theme for the 2023 conference is Writing Matters and will explore ways to help children, young people and adults become confident, engaged and independent writers in the modern world.
Through key note presentations and workshops, delegates will have the opportunity to share and hear examples of research and best practice covering all aspects of the teaching of writing.
Key note speakers include:
- Charlotte Hacking – Learning and Programme Director at the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education.
- Guy Merchant – Professor of Literacy and Education at the Sheffield Institute of Education at Sheffield Hallam University.
- Deborah Wells Rowe – Carolyn M. Everton Professor in Teacher Education at Peabody College, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee.
- Joseph Coelho – award-winning poet and current Waterstones Children’s Laureate.

Cost: approx. £385/£425 for UKLA members/non-members for the full 3 days. Single day access also available. Early bird discounts available until May 8th.
