The We Are Heroes mini magazines are a free resource created to help mitigate the social and mental health impacts of Lockdown on children.
There are six mini magazines in the series. Each magazine features two carefully selected stories that have parallels with the situations and emotions that children may have experienced as a result of the pandemic.
The stories are taken from myths and fables and have been retold and illustrated to be accessible and engaging for children aged five to nine. The accompanying themed activities were produced in consultation with a children’s mental health expert and encourage children to explore the themes raised and relate them to their own feelings and experiences.
The We Are Heroes project was a collaboration between children’s magazine Storytime and Queen Mary University of London.
