The Oracy Benchmarks provides a framework to support teachers and schools in implementing a high-quality oracy education in their setting. It is designed to help teachers and schools:
- Understand what a high-quality oracy curriculum looks like.
- Set clear goals for their oracy provision.
- Reflect on current practice and identify areas for further improvement.
- Guide strategic planning.
The document outlines five teacher benchmarks and five school benchmarks with examples of what they look like in practice, top tips from practitioners and a case study.
There is also a Self-Evaluation Tool for both teachers and schools with a template for future planning.
