Conferences
- Let’s Talk about Dyslexia – Creating empowering classrooms (online): Explore resources and effective approaches that will enable practitioners to support and empower young people with literacy difficulties. This online conference hosted by the British Dyslexia Association will cover adaptive teaching, cost effective technology tools and practical strategies to engage dyslexic learners and foster a positive learning environment for all.

- Putting Students at the Heart of the Subject (in person): The English & Media Centre’s summer conference explores inclusive practices that go beyond academic needs and draw on students’ cultures and identities to create a classroom environment where every pupil feels valued and respected. This one-day conference for secondary practitioners takes place at the English & Media Centre’s London offices.

- EA Conference (in person): Explore innovative teaching approaches across English language, literature and creative writing with a focus on poetry and visual media at this year’s EA Conference taking place in London. Hear from keynote speaker Michael Rosen and a range of expert practitioners with lots of opportunities to network with fellow practitioners.

- Heads of English Summer Conference (in person): Get the latest curriculum news and advice, explore approaches to support curriculum planning and assessment and share solutions to curriculum concerns with fellow Heads of Department at this in-person HFL Education Conference in Hatfield, Hertfordshire.

- Beating the Odds, Changing Futures (in person): Explore the role of literacy education in overcoming challenges, promoting health and wellbeing and improving life chances for all young people at the UKLA’s annual International Conference taking place at John Moore’s University, Liverpool.

- Improving Literacy in Secondary Schools (in person): The National Literacy Trust’s annual Secondary Conference takes place in Birmingham. Join a range of leading academics, authors and expert practitioners to explore the significant issues facing secondary literacy and effective approaches to help overcome them.

- OU Reading Schools – Building a Culture of Reading (online): The Reading Schools Programme is a one-year programme developed by the OURfP team to support schools who are looking to embed a whole-school Reading for Pleasure strategy at KS3. - Non-fiction Writing at KS3 (online): Explore an ‘ideas first’ approach to non-fiction writing, scaffolding approaches and ways to help pupils think about their intended audience at this webinar from the English & Media Centre.

- Assessments Principles and Practice (in person and online): Understand the specific principles and practices that underpin effective assessment for English, and explore ways to embed responsive summative and formative assessment tasks that will work across the English curriculum and for all attainment levels at KS3 and 4. - Encouraging Wide Reading for Pleasure (in person): Explore practical ways to help reverse the decline in reading for pleasure amongst KS3 students. This one-day course from the English & Media Centre will include strategies for small group and whole class work to develop specific skills in areas of common weakness as well as evidence-based approaches to boost the range and amount that students read.

- Developing Reading for Pleasure: Engaging Young Readers (online): Sign up for this free online course from the OU that explores the latest reading for pleasure research and outlines an effective framework to promote reader engagement. - The Economist Educational Foundation (online): Gain practical tips for managing discussions on complex topics and building news literacy with pupils aged 10+. Supporting EAL Students
- Creating an Inclusive Multilingual Classroom (online): Discover strategies for building an inclusive multilingual classroom that supports all students with this webinar from Across Cultures.

Supporting SEND Students
- An Introduction to Speech, Language and Communication: Learn how to identify and support young people with speech, language and communication challenges in this online course from Speech and Language UK. The course has four modules that can be completed in your own time and takes approximately 4 hours to complete.

- Developing Effective Pedagogical Practice for Pupils with SEND: Get practical advice and guidance on how to embed effective teaching practices for pupils with SEND to increase engagement and reduce the need for additional support in this webinar created by the National Association for Special Educational Needs (nasen) in collaboration with The National College.
