The Laugh Out Loud Book Awards (Lollies) celebrate the best and funniest children’s books published in the UK and Ireland. The awards recognise the important role that humour plays in engaging young readers. While the shortlists may be chosen by a panel of teachers and book experts, the winners are voted for by children across the country.
The winners for each of the three award categories are as follows:
Best Laugh Out Loud Picture Book

Never Show a T-Rex a Book! by Rashmi Sirdeshpande, illustrated by Diane Ewen (Puffin)
Octopus Shocktopus! by Peter Bently, illustrated by Steven Lenton (Nosy Crow)
Best Laugh Out Loud Book for 6-8 Year-Olds
Anisha Accidental Detective: School’s Cancelled by Serena Patel, illustrated by Emma McCann (Usborne Publishing)
Sam Wu is NOT Afraid of the Dark by Katie and Kevin Tsang, illustrated by Nathan Reed (Farshore)
Wigglesbottom Primary: Break-Time Bunnies by Pamela Butchart, illustrated by Becka Moor (Nosy Crow)
Best Laugh Out Loud Book for 9-13 Year-Olds
Kay’s Anatomy by Adam Kay, illustrated by Henry Paker (Puffin)
Little Badman and the Invasion of the Killer Aunties by Humza Arshad and Henry White, illustrated by Aleksei Bitskoff (Puffin)
Zombierella: Fairy Tales Gone Bad by Joseph Coelho, illustrated by Freya Hartas (Walker Books)
